Review content:
We arrived at Gruner on Friday night around 7 and expected a busy restaurant and a wait. The hostess invited us in and took my name which she wrote on her list for table seating. She directed us to the bar, where we walked to the end and sat down and ordered a glass of wine to enjoy during our wait. She did not offer to take our coats as the waitress did on my last visit to Gruner. After I noticed several tables had been seated I checked with the hostess and she informed us had crossed our name off her list as she thought we would dine at the bar! Long story short, she gave us a table near the entrance after I said we still wanted a table. The space is crowded but we made friends with the diners next to us - one of whom was a mom of one of the chefs. Food was hearty and tasty, and our waiter checked in right on time. The dim lighting, wood paneling and clean decor are nice. Aside from the in-expert hostessing, we had a decent meal but I am not sure I will go back due to the hostess.
