Review content:
My family has owned a home just a couple of miles away from Burnt Hills Hardware since 1950. My Dad was a regular customer and so was I. Even when I could get the same item at a big box store I went out of my way to give the business to the local store in Burnt Hills. I spent hundreds of dollars on paint, plumbing supplies, and many other items over the years. On October 15th I purchased a $29 thermostat for my camp in the Adirondacks. I never opened the item as it turned out to be a problem with my furnace. I brought the unopened thermostat back to the store on December 21st receipt in hand. The cashier took one look at the receipt and said"" its been more than 60 days so you can't return this"". I tried to explain that the return was delayed because the item was up at the camp and this was the first opportunity I had to return it, but she didn't care what I had to say. I restated that I had the receipt and the item was not even opened, but that went on deaf ears. I asked to speak to the Manager - and he did come over and just told me the same thing. I couldnt believe it - the least I expected was a store credit since they could have put the item right back on the shelf. I was planning on shopping in the store that day while killing time waiting for my hair appointment - but with that rudeness I walked right out of the store and to my car. They have lost a lifelong customer forever over a $29 item. I'm telling all of my neighbors and co workers how they treat customers.
