Review content:
This was the first bridal place my friend and I visited, and the best. (The second was David's Bridal, and it was utterly horrible and discouraging by comparison). Maggie Flood's designs their own dresses, and they have a couple racks full of floor samples. You just pick up whatever looks good and try it on, and pick out features that are nice, like nice materials or certain style elements. Then they can make a dress to order, or you can just buy a floor sample if it happens to be perfect. The sales person we met, Janet, was a little gruff at first but turned out very very helpful, and brought us more dresses like the ones we had tried on, encouraged us to look at color swatches in the Dupioni silk that we both liked so much, and made recommendations based on our coloring. What my friend and I especially liked about this place was how light and comfortable the dresses were, and what a wide range of styles there were. It wasn't at all like the quilted, 200 pound sequinned nightmare dresses that were the only thing going in David's Bridal's miles of racks. The Maggie Flood dresses did NOT make us look like wedding cakes. Some were sweet, some were elegant, some were princessy, but they were all unique. \r \r Bring a camera because you will want to take pictures to remember what you look like. Also, rest easy that this is one place that will make no attempt to harvest your name and address in order to sell you to wedding marketers (as David's Bridal attempted to do). The dresses were around $900, plus $150 to have one made up special to your size and with your changes, but it was such a great experience that I would recommend starting there even if you know you will ultimately buy cheaper somewhere else. You will get a great idea of what you like. Pros: Great variety, unique, helpful staff, you can get dresses made to order Cons: Dresses run to $900, plus $150 for having them made to order
