If you fish in Dallas Co., on or near the Alabama River (or anywhere within a 60 mile radius!), don't forget the newest shop in town--Kevin's Bait Shop. (Its located in Selma right next door to Dallas Ave. Pharmacy.) At first i was curious, maybe skeptical about ""the new guy."" But, if you have ever bought bait in Selma, you know we needed an improvement over the shop that many had been using (not mentioning names, but i think it is just around the...""CURB""). After talking with Kevin I learned he is not ""new"" to the business at all. In fact he & his family operate the Bibb Co. Lake so, he is very knowledgeable. But more importantly, Kevin is so helpful and friendly. My first visit I spent nearly an hour just chatting and browsing (and asking questions!), surprisingly I learned things I never knew before. The shop has everything you need-- from your live bait, tackle, rods reels, weights, bobbers, nets, line, hooks, snacks and way too much for me to remember. As far as live bait, he is very knowledgeable. Kevin's Bait Shop has every type of live bait u would need and he knows which bait is best for every fish and the best way to use them.The live bait he had available & listed on his sign was minnows (toughies), crickets, even crawfish, goldfish, shiners, chicken and rooster livers, wax worms & night crawlers. He can even issue your state fishing or hunting license as u wait. The prices are excellent-- you can tell Kevin's Bait Shop is not trying to overcharge & make a quick buck. And if you need an item he doesn't sell he will track it down and try to have it for you the next time you come. This bait shop is by far the best bait shop around in price, selection, friendliness and knowledgeably. I will continue to shop with Kevin's Bait Shop & my friends will too!
