Review content:
Even though I can't pronounce it, Jace Gace is a great new place in PDX. I heard about the waffle thing a couple of weeks ago and couldn't wrap my head around how this was at all lucrative (how many times do you want to go to a waffle shop?), but I gave it a shot and the experience was great. The first thing is that the space is beautiful. I understand that the owner did all of the woodwork and design and it is impressive. You walk in to a cross between the Doug Fir and Driftwood Lounge - but much more casual. The detail in the woodworking at the counter is beautiful. The rest of the space is open and airy with a few architectural touches but not too many but invites a great gallery space and hopefully some music space soon. Also, lots of outdoor seating. Now, on to the food. I'm a converted waffle eater now. Didn't know you could do so much with a waffle, but it was good. Don't know how often I'll be in the mood for this fare, and I'm worried that the lack of diversity in the fare will keep the place from getting regulars. All in all, this a great new addition to Belmont. It's hard to tell its there given the lack of good signage and the surrounding construction zones. I hope it doesn't fall to the wayside.
