Let me start by laying some of the blame on Tricare. Tricare sent us to this doctor listing him as a Urogynocologist, HE IS NOT!!! He is only a ob/gyn. When we asked Tricare about this, they said they only go by what the doctor tells them his credentials are(That's a safe policy!!). My wife's surgery on a Thursday at first seemed to be a rousing success other than a swollen firm stomach which we tried unsuccessfully to bring to his attention (He did not even order an ultrasound! This was not normal for her and we suspected a hematoma). She went home only taking Motrin. On Tuesday everything changed, stitches and other material came out at about 9:00pm, same thing at about 10:00 on Wed. After 3 emergency Rm visits for pain, fever, and continuous bleeding, his contribution was a vaginal exam(which of course showed completely normal) Leviquin, Motrin and lots of ""The bleeding is normal"" . We finally got him to do an ultrasound on Thursday which of course revealed a hemotoma the size of an orange. He tried to tell us the bleeding (bright red blood) was coming from the hemotoma. How does fresh blood come from an old hematoma?? He also said the blood was coming from the top of the vaginal cuff, which means the stitching he had put in tore open but he did not acknowledge that is where all the stitch pieces had come from on Tuesday. We finally went to Evans Army hospital were they put her on IV antibiotics for 3 days for the hematoma turning into an abccess. That still did not solve the problem, as a few days later we went to the ER at Univ of Denver for more IV antibiotics and a drain for the abccessing hematoma.
