Review content:
Wow! I can't believe I've lived in portland for so long and only stumbled onto this treasure recently! I'd never even heard of it. I mean why is it called Plainfields? That doesn't sound Indian at all! So anyways, my receptionist had recently tried it out and was raving about it saying that i HAD to try it out. I'm not huge on Indian food. But she got me intrigued about it so I decided to take my wife there for our scheduled keep your sanity and get away from the kids night. \r
Bear in mind, I lean towards steaks and lobster, this place blew me away! The food came in the middle so my wife and i shared. we had this amazing appetizer i cant remember the name of most of these dishes but the sauce was green and it was amazing! ive never tasted such an orchestra of flavors! then i ordered a lamb steak dish that was cooked to a medium rare perfection and my wife ordered the lobster. we were blown away by the flavors! we're meat and potatoes people typically but we got tired of the ringside and portland city grill it was time for new food adventures. \r
well i can honestly say, we're addicted to plainfields and have reservations for next week! \r
of course, there were some less than perfect stuff. our server was the owner herself. she was very sweet, gracious, and lovely but clearly lacking in experience. she had trouble with the wine key. it was kind of cute and we felt for her she was trying hard. it took 3 tries before we found a bottle of wine on the menu that was in stock! but that being said, it was a delicious cabernet from India and thats pretty petty stuff. We're not snobs.\r
I'm not complaining so much. I'm just giving an honest review. Nothing's perfect. But my wife and I concur: This place is a treasured find! You HAVE to try it to believe it! The petty stuff was extremely minimal to our outstanding night at the restaurant. very romantic. get a babysitter though.
Pros: Amazing food, wine, obvious staff cared about you
Cons: owner struggled with wine key, wines out of stock
