Review content:
When you want to spend a relaxed evening (2 1/2 to 3 hours) having a supreb, romantic dinner, this is the place to go! Our server, Nita, not only gave us excellent advice on wine and dinner selections, but also explained that the chef was willing to work with my dietary restrictions (lactose and gluten-free) and our request for spicier than usual food. Overall, the service was outstanding.\r

We ended up having a nice bottle of Pinot Noir and Dahi Wada to start. Then we shared Gosht Saag Pudeena (Tandoori lamb) and Royal Biryani. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants through the years both in Portland and the Bay area (including Swagat's, the Bombay Cricket Club, and Got Curry? to mention a few of the best in Portland), but this was the best Royal Biryani that I've had anywhere. And I loved the touch of silver leaf on the top. Everything was excellent. For dessert, we had Chocolate Pecan Flan. While not a traditional Indian dessert, it was also excellent.\r

We were so pleased with our evening that we plan to make Plainfield Mayur's ""our place"" to go. And we plan to ask for Nita again when we make our next reservation.
Pros: Great food, great wine, great service, romantic ambience, easy off-street parking, European-style relaxed dining
