Not only are there a ton of rules when you are there, there are a ton of rules to cancel your membership. You have to jump through some hoops to get out. You can't just call and cancel, you have to submit a written request, you have to meet some requirements to quit, and you HAVE TO SEND CERTIFIED MAIL. I sent a regular letter, thought I was cancelled, and then 4 years later received a bill for $1000. No notifications in the interim period, no communication, no bills in the mail, and I didn't use the gym once because I thought I was out. Then after FOUR YEARS they let me know that no, I was still a member, and had a bill for a grand. Because I hadn't used certified mail. Kind of shady.
