Life changing: this is how I would describe the experience w/ Dr. Burgess. Besides providing the guidance and opportunity to view life with a different lens, she imparts wisdom in ways that I am so grateful to receive. She is a rare mix of the cerebral with that of the emotional and spiritual: a rarity in her field. Her approach is candid, gentle and empathetic while insightful and enlightening. She asks questions that make you consider alternative viewpoints, calls out aspects that may have been in your blind spot but never does she assume or judge; as a matter of fact, you arrive at your own enlightenment, and she helps you see that. Her book ""How to Grow a Second Skin for Your Soul"" provides one w/ the tools to define personal boundaries and manage those who strip those away- a great and insightful read!
As a firm believer in the importance of self-actualization and continual betterment of oneself, she fulfills this for me in more ways than I can imagine. I find myself walking away with a new thought, fresh perspective, an enlightened sense and importantly, an affirmation of all that is authentic and true. She brings out the best in you- at your very core, and helps cut through the obscurities of life. Dr. Burgess is like the guiding voice, the sounding board that we all wish we had back when... it makes one wonder about how things would've/could've been if you just had her to there to bounce some ideas off. Wise, compassionate and intelligent, Dr. Burgess is truly the best gift we can provide ourselves. I'd recommend to take a look at her site: AlisaSBurgessPhD
