What has happened to the delicious, fun and happy place that USED to be Wabash BBQ? We have typically enjoyed our food and service over the past decade. Unfortunately on Saturday 1-12-13, our service consisted of a chain-smoking scantily clad waitress with noticeably dirty hands that were not washed once during our service, as we observed. All waitresses in Wabash were smoking publicly and incessantly during our meal, however none of the patrons were smoking. In addition to the waitresses’ (multiple) unkempt appearance, their language was FAR worse. I have never heard so many ways to use the F word, in my almost 40 years of living, and I work in the construction industry! Hard to top that type of language at times, but your girls managed to put them to shame. To add insult to injury, we were overcharged for four bottled beers, at $3.25 each, when your menu clearly states $2.75. We were anticipating some delicious leftovers to enjoy throughout the week … too bad we cannot enjoy them afterall: The ribs on the combo were 100% fat and gristle, tasted re-heated and old; the ham and turkey was grocery store deli counter lunchmeat; the brisket was assuredly a partly done pot roast; and the sausage casing was impenetrable. Our sides were the size of a shot glass, and the cole slaw was vomitus at best (usually my favorite part of the meal!) After we left, we read reviews online of Wabash BBQ that would have warned us had we read them before we made our decision to drive an hour to eat there and waste over 50 bucks. Something must be done to improve both the food quality and the atmosphere. Thank God for the pre-packaged deep-fried corn nugget appetizer – it made the meal.
