I've been to Genki on numerous occassions. The first time, I just stopped in to try it out. I ended up parking my butt in one of the seats by the bar and enjoyed some great food! I enjoyed some great wine as well as a great conversation with the friendly bartender the entire time I was there. It's rare that you see a bartender have a conversation with every customer who sits by the bar and waits for their takeout.
The 2nd time, I brought a date there for dinner. Upon entering, not 1 but 2 hostesses quickly dropped what they were doing to greet me and my date. The atmosphere was extremely cozy and romantic. Eventhough it was a pretty busy night, the wait staff was very quick and attentive.
The drinks and food both came out extremely fast to my surprise as sushi restaurants tend to take a long time to serve especially when busy! The sushi was extremely fresh and the have a great twist on many traditional drinks and plates. My date had a great evening and was extremely happy that I took her here.
