Review content:
I dined here last night for the frist time even though I grew up in the town north of Bernardsville. I wanted something like the Black Horse Tavern but with better food. I also wanted someplace convenient so my friend and I could walk to the movie theatre. We had an hour so the obvious choice was the burger, though I was planning on it anyway since the reviews I read on other sites indicated they were amazing. I was even more excited to find out they had buffalo burgers, in addition to other $.75 exrtra. I chose the buffalo burger with premium Horseradish cheddar, and skipped the sweet onions, though I love them. Sweet-potatoe fries sealed the deal. 2 issues: 1) I asked for medium, it came out medium-rare. I didn't have time to send it back to so ate it anyway. 2) The bun was bad. It was a stale-tasting, tough to chew brioche or brioche-type bun. I shouldn't have been surprised because the rolls they put on the table with the drinks were stale too. I definitely recommend this place over the Black Horse for food (while the ambience doesn't have the kitcsh and historic details as the Black Horse, a recent renovation has turned it into a high-end local pub). Just make sure when you order you tell them not to serve you stale bread. It's an oversight they shouldn't be making, especially for $10-$15 burgers. Pros: Ambience, convenience, menu options Cons: stale bread, undercooked meat
