Review content:
We worked with Tina Bickell at the San Diego store and she seemed great, very knowledgable. We selected a beautiful bamboo floor by Mohawk, and when it was installed we were so pleased. The problems began weeks later when our floor started raising and splitting at the joints. We had never owned a wood floor before, but have since learned this is called ""cupping"" and happens when there is excess moisture coming from underneath the floor. We called Vintage Design and they first sent a Customer Service guy named Larry (very nice) who gasped when he saw the floor. Then, an independant wood floor inspector came to our house and did several tests. Bottom line: The manufacterer stated in a letter that as far as they were concerned it wasn't their product. Andy Stasch of Vintage Design wrote a dismissive letter to inform us we had a cupping problem and to reduce the humidity in our home by running the Heat and Air Conditioning! When we called to speak to Andy's boss, Jason Weiner, and complain about Andy's letter, we were told that since we live in a semi-coastal climate with more humidity, we should run the HVAC to let the wood ""relax"". RELAX? Does splitting wood ""relax""? Nobody told us we could never have our doors and windows open for fresh air. I told Jason I have had my windows closed and AC on since my landscaping project and ensuing heatwave started., and that ""cupping"" by definition is a moisture problem from beneath the floor, not above. He replied that it is ""environmental"", moisture is moisture, and then let the second bombshell fly: ""Well, I have people in the area who have told me you keep your windows open a lot""! So, basically, I'm being spyed on and screwed at the same time. Do not buy anything from Vintage Design. They misrepresent themselves as being ""high end"" and give no customer service whatsoever.
