Review content:
As a hardcore foodie and fan of Asian cuisine, I can't tell you how excited I am to have Safran in Chelsea. Excellent food, attentive service and wonderful ambience makes for a very pleasurable yet unpretentious dining experience. Now that they have their liquor license and open late on weekends, it's also a great place to fill those hunger pains after a night out on the town! Not sure about the ""amateur"" negative review below since the kitchen is headed up by executive chef Laura Lam, formerly of the Rainbow Room and Moonsoon - a popular eatery on the Upper West Side for years. \r

All I can say is that I've not been disappointed in the several times I've visited. Just too many selections on the menu still to try! Highlights for me include the Safran summer roll; the grilled pork chops; the foie gras fried rice; and my personal favorite - the pan seared filet of sole with a chili reduction, fried shallots and scallions. Entrees are very generous in portion size, and typically include a side salad and a fragrant bowl of rice. Definitely give it a try and spread the word! Chelsea needs a great Asian eatery like Safran!\r
Pros: Great food, attentive service and wonderful ambience
