Review content:
Okay, so I've eaten at nearly every Indian Restaurant in Los Angeles (and several in London) and this one is my favorite. No, not for decor and atmosphere (Bombay Palace and Electric Lotus win there) but for the food. And not only is it arguably the best Indian food in LA, it's also a bargain. The cheap lunch buffet is fine, but if you only go for the buffet you'll miss some of the best things on the menu.\r
The Chicken Tikka is the best I've had - large chunks of all white meat chicken, perfectly seasoned (great for all you low carb folks). The khurmas and the masalas are excellent as well. Saag Paneer, saag aloo, the various naans... It's all great (they make a naan with coconut and fruit in it that is suitable for dessert). The soup that comes with each dinner is average, but it's free.\r
All in all, a great undiscovered gem. Service is great (partly because the place is rarely crowded) and the atmosphere is a bit plain but clean.
Pros: best food at the best prices, a large back room for banquets and parties
Cons: parking on melrose can be tricky
