Review content:
Let me quote word for word a post the owner said in defense of their terrible food on another review site: ""We have interviewd Wolfgang and Emeril and they are trying to work around there schedule to start cutting up our tomatoes.""
That alone should let you know the kind of people running this outfit. But let me tell you my story. It's really about safety. Search other review sites and look past all the good reviews. It's easy to have a good time when everything goes ok. But what if there is a problem. How do they handle it? Are they prepared? Here is my experience with R&E:
I belong to a local grotto (a caving society) and met Ryan of River and Earth while in Worley's cave. Leading a dozen or so ppl underground in a variety of clothes and shoes not suited to the environment putting them in danger. I cringed as I watched as he instructed ppl to actually touch the live formations. This is terrible to the cave environment and can actually do damage to the formations. He was not friendly when we offered a greeting and refused to speak to us as if we were not even there. But here is the kicker. Later we passed ANOTHER small paid expedition group where a member of their party had become injured (due to wearing tennis shoes and slipped). We stopped to help her out and sent for rescue. This event even made our local news. But when R&E passed by, they never stopped or offered ANY assistance WHAT-SO-EVER. He impatiently waited while we slowly moved her out of the way and then ushered his group by. Not a word did he speak. No offer to send off for help. Nothing. We sent guys ahead to call for rescue while we administered what first aid we could. They reported later that he was quite upset when the local authorities ordered the cave evacuated. Unprofessional, unsafe, and inconsiderate. There are lots of local adventure groups with qualified ppl to lead groups into caves and rafting adventures that do it for free with a much higher level of professionalism. Just search facebook or meetup for local caving or rafting organizations. Don't pay these guys $75 plus. Your safety is NOT their primary concern.
