Review content:
There's this crazy old lady who bustles around the place acting like the owner when in fact she's not. She used to run one of the stores in Seattle till they got sick of her, so they sent her down here so they didn't have to deal with her.
Here's how I break down the Powder Room:
1. Dogs: welcome. Children: hell no. I wouldn't bring my kids there, the owner is scary and hates children. She'll follow you around to make sure your kids don't stick there fingers on anything.
2. Don't even think about bringing something to drink in. She will ask you to leave, I'm not even joking.
3. Don't even start looking at shoes. They are way overpriced, she brings the same shoes out every year. Plus the employees make commission of the shoes so they will tell you anything looks good.
4. At least 1/3 of the merchandise can be found at Forever 21. The other 2/3 can be bought across the street at Three Monkeys for a much cheaper price.
5. The clothes are so cheap they have to alter them regularly. I've seen a girl sewing back on buttons or fixing rips on many items, not just clearance items but brand new stuff right out of the box.
6. If you try something on, make sure you shut the door on your way out! It's hard to forget, the old lady details out the instructions to you in such a way that a 3 year old could do it. If one of her employees lets you in she's probably lurking around the corner making sure they do it right, and if she doesn't you have to awkwardly sit there while she does it again for you just to make sure.
Basically, don't waste your time. Go to Three Monkeys across the street if you must. The old lady is awful, she has absolutely no respect for her customers and could care less if you shopped at "her" store.
Pros: It's on 23rd, so for non-Portlanders it's "Portland."
Cons: The old hag who works there.
