First of all, this is the first time I've ever written a review on CitySearch. This place was so bad (all three times I've been here ) it was an inspiration for me to join. The first two times I came here I was with a large group-- and they severely restricted our menu to three bland choices (e.g. 3 items). I thought I would try it again to see if their full menu and small-table service was any better. Nope! This place is too expensive considering the portion sizes and the quality of the food. I ordered an Asian Ginger Sesame BBQ Pork salad, purportedly cooked with Von's ""special"" Asian BBQ sauce. There was no BBQ about it... the pork was that dry, cold, red-and-grey pork you get as an appetizer and American-Chinese restaurants. Which is fine-- but not anything special. Huge disappointment for $16. The sesame-ginger dressing was nothing to gawk about. One benefit of my salad meal over my friends BBQ Chicken: it wasn't tiny. But I think we both still left hungry. The wait staff was nonchalant, borderline rude. The host was the only person welcoming us, but we were forced to wait in the very small front entry-way by a gia-normous bunch of heat lamps for our table... uncomfortable. It's not normally something you see in a review, but the bathroom was in disrepair-- the toilet seat and the hook on the back of the door both fell off while I was in there. If you want American-fare, try walking around the block-- there are many other places with GREAT food for the same price downtown. I'm guessing you could get this food for half the price at some ma-and-pa joint: it would taste better and you'd get it with a smile. Pros: Ice Cream, Not having to come here again Cons: Small Entry, Bland mis-advertised food, Loud
