Review content:
We purchased a LivingSocial for an hour studio photo session. Rebecca seemed professional and attentive. While our LivingSocial was for an hour in studio, she was generous and gave us time outside as well.
However, we were sorely disappointed when we returned to view our pictures. The majority of the in studio pictures included the unwelcome appearance of my bra strap. I was surprised that Rebecca had not mentioned anything since she was prone to fix things in-between shots. We didn't want any of the pictures with my bra strap hanging out so she said she could probably remove it. However, if it was a lot of work, she'd have to charge - we just didn't choose any of those.
Additionally, we decided to purchase a laminate finish for one of our pictures. It came out to $25 before tax. Rebecca told her husband that sales tax was 7.5%. My fianc? challenged saying it was 7.275%. She challenged back saying that she'd know since she pays it every month and that it depends on the service type and locality. According to the MN Department of Revenue, the sales tax rate for 55391-1837 is 7.275%. The rate does not include the special local taxes administered by the Department (Minneapolis lodging, entertainment or downtown liquor and restaurant taxes, the St. Cloud liquor and food tax, or the Rochester and St. Paul lodging taxes). As far as I can tell, photography does not fall into the special local tax category.
Finally, the low resolution pictures we received have large watermarks. The watermarks were placed in the same location on every picture; it ended up covering a lot of us in many cases. After inquiring about purchasing full rights so we could remove the logos, Rebecca explained that it would be too expensive. She claimed that most photographers do not give DVDs with high resolution images anymore and that the logos were designed to protect her.
After this experience, we decided to go with another photographer for our full engagement session. And yes, they gave us all the pictures on a DVD. We have full rights and there isn't a watermark in sight.
