Review content:
I lived in Canyon Crest for a year, but it was before I had a dog. Now that I don't live there, I don't find myself venturing to the ""Towne Centre"" as much as I used to. But there are a few places - the shoe repair magician, the dry cleaner for tailoring, Extreme PIta, and now Pawlished Paws - that bring me back with some regularity. We had a groomer that we'd been taking our dog to since we got him, and were pretty pleased with them. But since our dog has black claws and no one cuts them particularly short as a result, he needs a trim up from time to time, and we come here because they offer all their groomer services a la carte with VERY reasonable prices. The people in the grooming room are so sweet and gentle with my nervous, blind chihuahua, and it keeps us coming back. And the front half of the store is the best specialty pet shop in the IE. They carry the best selection of harnesses (and we are serious harness snobs), some of the best food out there, a bakery case filled with dog treats that made me wish my dog ate treats with gusto, and, if you're as silly about your pets as I am, you'll love their pet clothes selection. Basically: they manage to pack all the best things about a huge pet store into one little store, without all the extra junk that no one needs. How great is that? But where they really earn their fifth star - as if they didn't have it from all the reasons I listed above - is their Halloween pet costume contest. Although I took the blame above for occasionally buying my dog a sweater, my husband gets the blame for this one. He made a costume for our dog and was really proud of it, so he got registered for their annual costume contest. Over 40 people participated this year, and there were so many awesomely adorable costumes, and lots of great prizes. My little guy won a judge's choice award...and my husband vowed that this would be an annual tradition for us.
