I was studying late with a friend and we both became hungry at 10:00 pm. I went through a bunch of delivery menus and found MAO*s KITCHEN. My friend and I dissected the menu and decided on the Lettuce Cup for $9.00. The chicken is fresh, chopped up with vegetables including jicama, carrots, greenbeans all in a savory rich healthy sauce. Highly recommend it. I selected the Mao's Hometown with shrimp - $11.00 as my main course. Full of fresh shrimp and freshly cut vegetables, peppers and amazing huge portions of Wood ear mushrooms in a spicy Hunan Province sauce . My buddy chose the Orange -Ginger $12.00 and asked for the chicken to not be fried. They sent chunks of freshly cooked white-meat with Sichuan peppers and some freshly blanched broccoli. Delicious. Each selection had its unique sauce that was light and rich with flavor. The portions were very large and there was plenty of left-over food. I can't wait to heat it up today and enjoy it again. We were told it would take 45 minutes to deliver and the food was here in 30 minutes. I'm willing to wait more than an hour if necessary and I will definitely call them again. Last time I ordered Chinese food from Mandarette Cafe on Beverly Boulevard and it was prepared very well, delivered quickly but it was double the price and the portions were considerably smaller. I've read some of Mao's Kitchen reviews and I can't believe there are foodies taken the time to write a bad review because they don't like the name of the restaurant. Other unhappy customers had to wait for their food or did not get enough attention. This reminds me of a few friends that lost their job and decided to go to school to become a psychologist. All three went through different programs and in no time developed a clientele. Life in Los Angeles. Pros: The make modifications, healthy, open until midnight Cons: none whatsoever
