Review content:
My spouse & I used to eat at the Mountainside restaurant (formerly and fondly known as The Captain?s Table) often for many years. We?d frequently bring a friend or two & we would ALWAYS tell people that the Mountainside Restaurant has the best seafood in the Lehigh Valley. We always had great meals there. The staff, the chef, the atmosphere & piano player were phenomenal.
Alas, all of that is gone now, replaced with another dime-a-dozen sports bar. But not just any sports bar, a CRAPPY sports bar. Although they still pretend to be a restaurant during the week, their dinner menu at 8 o?clock at night offers hoagies.
They went from top of the line seafood offering lobster tail & delectable jumbo lump crab to hoagies, fish sticks & wings. They went from ambience to assaulting televisions on every wall. WHAT A FREAKIN? TRAVESTY!
We thought we?d give it a chance, and we did on THREE separate occasions. Surely that was a fair trial. But each time it sucked more & more. We ordered nachos & they were served w/ fake cheese. My spouse ordered fish & chips but was given cold fish sticks w/ spoiled tartar sauce which induced illness.
Minors serve alcoholic beverages there apparently with no regard for the law. When they have bands, you must dance on carpeting while the band plays squeezed into a corner next to sports TVs that are never turned off.
Children play around the bar area & the stairs which presumably go up to the owner?s living quarters. It would seem that they wanted their own personal sports bar where they could live, play & make a couple of bucks. Well, good for them, too bad for everyone else.
We will NEVER, EVER set foot in that place again. What a shame. Those three recent experiences have tainted but cannot replace the VERY fond memories of many good experiences & fine meals that we used to have & will cherish forever. We would like to sincerely thank the entire former Wait Staff, the Bartender, the Piano Players & most of all, the Chef. Man, do we miss you.
You have all been stellar & you will all be sorely missed. Thank you so much for your many years of great service.
As for the new owners, it?s time to get a clue boys. You?ve committed mutiny & the Captain is mighty pissed.
