Review content:
I will go ahead and give you the bottom line up front, I love the salon, and I love my new stylist Maxine. I got a consult, deep condition and trim. I waited a few days to post my review so that I could also comment on the recommended products when I used them myself at home... Because I am all too familiar with something being used in my hair in the salon and being awesome and at home being a disaster... First of all, I decided to try out Curltopia based on reviews on here as well as a fellow curly... I give them 5 stars for 5 reasons, the 1st star is given because they fitted me in on a whim, I got off work a little earlier than usual and gave them a call and drove right over! Love it! The 2nd star is for Maxine, who instantly assessed my hair and told me what was wrong with the products I was using and why I did not like the results I was getting. She also answered every question I had with facts to explain why certain things worked and others didn't... She taught me a ton about my hair, and not only educated me, but also taught me to embrace my kinks. Another thing I loved about her was she wasn't a stylist who turned every question into a 'why you should come see me weekly' response, she gave me valuable home use tips that worked with the products I took home! The 3rd star is because the products they use in your hair are available for purchase, and Maxine took time to explain each product she was using and why. And when a leave in didn't react well with a moisturizer, she explained why it didn't react well together, and what products look like in my hair when they don't react well together (and all this time I thought it just needed time to 'soak in'). The 4th star is for the environment, it is very cute, very hip, laid back salon with free wifi! My 5th star goes to the amazing receptionist who was all too accommodating and the opposite of pushy, I love the fact that no one pressured me to buy anything on the list of recommended products! (Even tho I am a self proclaimed PJ, and I did buy all of the products and loved them all as well) Needless to say, my next appt was set up before I left!
