We moved in for the ""free rent"" and ""$100 deposit"". At first my fiance' had to move in by herself until I could clear up an old apartment debt I didn't know I had. When she got there she was eaten alive by fleas. It took me coming in furious for them to finally do something about it almost 2 weeks after it started! She had welts the size of golf balls! I think I need to go to small claims court against our apartment complex. They are trying to charge us $100 late fee for the past two months. The rent is due on the 1st but the late fee isn't given as long as you pay by midnight on the 4rth. Well we had the rent in the box by 11:30 PM on 4/4/2012 and 5/4/2012. A printed out ledger from the apartments shows they cashed our money orders on the 5th both times, which would show any judge that we obviously more than likely had them in by the 4th. Not to mention I have paperwork from a pay-day loan I took out to avoid a late fee last month. I get resident emails, but the landlord is refusing to talk to me because she says I haven't signed the final lease paper that her assistant was suppose to give to me 2 months ago when she told me I was approved, could move in, and had me sign a paper saying I could get mail here. This is ridiculous. Should I contact Trinity or just sue? It's pretty obvious from the paper trail that we paid the rent before midnight both times.
