Review content:
Today is my wife's 40th birthday and yesterday my daughter ordered a truffle cake from the Cocoa Tree. We have been purchasing the same cake for my wife's birthday for the last 5 years.
When my daughter and I walked into the store today, the lady at the front counter (Gabrielle Thompson) mentioned that she had something to tell us. The chocolatier was not available and she had to give us the cake without the glazing. She proceeded to tell us that we can cook the chocolate over medium heat and then pour it all over the cake.
Needless to say my daughter was quite disappointed as the cake was saran wrapped and in a bag not the typical box like in the years past. The raspberries were no where to be found. Well, now my wife has seen the cake and she has to finish it up herself and the disappointment has been exacerbated. We are not going to let this ruin the day, however there is a right way to treat a customer and a wrong way to treat a customer. The above experience obviously is a testament to poor customer service and lack of communication with the customer. We do understand it is a holiday and that everyone deserves time off but all they had to say was that Bethany the Chocolatier was away and that the cake will not be available for sale until next week.
Well, I do not know what I was thinking writing this. After all this is America and everyone is out there to make a buck especially in a recession but as far as I am concerned, I'll be voting with my feet and go the other way after being a loyal customer for several years.
