Review content:
My poor rating is for the classes more than for the store itself - or, at least, for the ""Learn to Sew"" class. What I had hoped to get out of a basic sewing class was familiarity with a sewing machine, different basic stitches, and enough know-how to be able to repair a simple seam and hem a pair of pants (I'm tired of having to pay $12 to a tailor for hemming). This class was a two-evening class with a ""simple"" project - a pair of pajamas. As it happened, the instructor did not allow for NEARLY enough time to complete the project. There was no time for questions, no time for going over and reviewing what we learned, no time to learn, and no time to finish the project. The instructor wound up threading our machines and fixing them if there were problems in the interest of saving time, so I came out of the class with no real idea on how to work a sewing machine, what the basic stitches are, how to read a pattern, and an unfinished pair of pajamas that I have no idea what to do with. A total waste of time and money, I'm sorry to say. I didn't even enjoy myself - it was hot as blazes in the classroom, and because the class began at the absolute worst time of day - 5:30, so I had to leave immediately after work - and didn't end until 9:00 (and ran over anyway), I was famished. It would have been smarter to arrange three 2-hour classes, and much less painful. A bad experience all-around! Pros: Staff was very accomodating when it came to arranging supplies for a class. Cons: Scheduled class tried to accomplish WAY too much in WAY too little time.
