My last night visiting New York, after paying 100$ too much for a canon powershot sd1000 and 50$ too much for an mp3 player at this business, the salesman brought out a Lesca ""by Japan"" MV9000 with a sticker labelled $2499. He elaborately extolled its ""brand new"" features, saying his was the only store in the area that carried the camcorder, and even walked onto the sidewalk to demonstrate its nightscene mode. He confidingly said he paid $1200 for it. After an half hour at least of playing with the device, the price was down to $750. He said to gamble: he'd flip a coin, if I win, $700; if he wins, $750. My daughter expressed doubts, and he relented to $700. Finally, as we turned to leave, he said, $599. We left without making the purchase. Curiously, a google search reveals that a Lesca MV9000, product of Hong Kong, costs $165. Bad consumer habits on my part are my own fault. Taking advantage of innocent lack of preparation, on the other hand, is a disgusting way to run a business.
