Review content:
Today I went in for a Brazilian Wax and Full Leg Wax. This is the first time I've experienced A Step Above Day Spa. Well, I wouldn't advise anyone to go there for any type of waxing, especially either of the types of waxing I had done. First off, I get Brazilians and full leg waxes often, monthly or bimonthly, depending on how busy I am and when my vacations are scheduled. So I'm very familiar with the process, the waxes, etc. And my hair is pretty fine because of my regular waxing. I asked Natalie (Owner) ""What type of wax do you use, soft or hard?"" And she answered ""Hard."" And that's the kind of wax I like! Because if you use soft wax, you can only go over the area once or twice before you start ""derming"" the person. Which is similar to a burn and causes blistering. Well, she ends up using soft wax on everything, legs and genitals. She seriously goes over areas of my genitals many times and I left the spa very dark red with blood vessels broken all over the place. This hasn't happened in years, not since my very first Brazilian by an inexperienced Waxer. She even asks me at one point, ""Do you want the anal area done?"" And I'm like it's a Brazilian - that's why I'm here! Take it ALL off! Defintion of Brazilian wax according to Wikipedia ""Brazilian waxing is the most known of bikini waxes, and involves the removal of all hair in the pelvic area, front and back. It is a form of bikini waxing, and involves the complete removal of hair from the buttocks and adjacent to the anus, perineum and vulva (labia majora and mons pubis). "" So, after taking off layers of my dermis, leaving me bloody red - I go to pay.. The menu says: Brazilian with navel: $75 (I didn't even go to the navel, just as high as the mons pubis in front) And it says Full Leg: $70 and up. With my full legs being recently waxed the hair was pretty sparse, so I didn't expect much on the ""and up"" over the $70. The cashier asks me for $190. And that's before TIP! So, I'm thinking to myself... $75 + $70 = $140... Why would it ever cost $50 more than the base price? With sparsely covered legs and a Brazilian I didn't go up to the navel for... Well, I paid the $190, left a $20 tip on top of it... I tip 20% no matter what, but I promised myself I would leave a review on Yelp! when I got home, because NO ONE SHOULD EXPERIENCE THIS. PROS: Nice house CONS: Overpriced Overpriced lack of Professionalism Not tolerant of religions other than Christianity Doesn't know difference between hard wax and soft wax Doesn't know how to do a Brazilian wax safely
