TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! DO NOT BUY FROM ELGIN!!! I admit, a few weeks ago when I looked on this very site and read about Elgin, I thought the negative reviews may have been a bit sensationalized so we decided to go ahead and buy from them......Then we found out for ourselves. All of the negative reviews you read here and elsewhere are 100% right. If you are still thinking I'm nuts...read on. At Elgin, the prices are cheap for a reason. The furniture is great when you are in the showroom. But they seem to not be able to get them to your house in one piece...You pay them $120(!) to deliver it to your house and when it arrives, it looks like your $3000 living room set was thrown out of the back and dragged all the way to your house. On the first delivery, all three pieces were damaged. And I am not talking about minor damage. There were huge dents, scuffs, scrapes, cuts in the leather furniture - some of these were very big and down to exposed wood! They said they'd redeliver (which they did after several phone calls - impossible to get a hold of any of their completely apathetic 'service' staff). So we got to waste another half-day waiting for them to show up with the next set. The chair was brought in and it looked fine. Things are going good....then the sofa came in.....more huge cuts/scrapes! We are not talking about minutia here....you could see it without even bending down by the floor. At this point, we refuse delivery of that piece and ask to get the sofa redelivered. The delivery guys went back out to the truck with that piece and , presumably, to bring in the loveseat (the final piece) but they returned empty-handed and inform us that they are taking everything back to the warehouse and 'ah...i guess you guys are getting a refund'. WHAT?!!!! Apparently they talked with somebody at the warehouse and it was decided that we were just not worth the trouble! So we had become 'problem customers' and were just too much hassle to deal with (even for $3000!) Oh I'm sorry, maybe it's too much to ask that when I pay 3 grand for a living room set, I actually want it to look like new furniture! I swear we are NOT being picky here....NO ONE in their right mind would accept furniture looking like that. When we called the 'service' guy, Tommy, to inquire about just what the *bleep* they thought they were doing, he basically just agreed with us that it was an issue but refused to do anything about it!!! Would not even get up to go look at the furniture himself! Did not try to amend the situation AT ALL! No offer of apology, no offer to redeliver, NOTHING! Just basically a brush off - get out of my face type of answer... JUST AWFUL! PLEASE PLEASE do not buy from this place! It will only cause you huge headaches! The WORST SERVICE EVER!!! Pros: None Cons: Every single aspect of the experience
