Review content:
I guess we should have expected it. On Third Avenue, with a name like THE BANC. Lots of suits and ties. The ties pulled slightly open, the white shirts unbuttoned at the collar. The crowd plenty white. The place was packed at 9:30 and people kept coming. More and more. We didn't see anyone leave! There was a DJ, but the music was played at a talkable volume. Although we had to wait about 1/2 an hour for a table, the staff was really accommodating: keeping on eye on a table for us, rearranging the furniture to make more room, making sure we knew they were trying. Finally we were seated at a great table by the open windows. A waitress was prompt in taking our orders, and came back frequently to make sure everything was okay. They did their best and deserve an A. Unfortunately the rest of the crowd was as friendly as a wolfman during the full moon. NO ONE came over to talk to us. No one even smiled at us. Maybe because we weren't wearing suits. Maybe because we had only one pretty girl with us, and she was obviously ""taken."" I don't know. But the place reeked of in-crowd (off-work Muppies) and out-crowd (the rest of us). I guess you have to be in before you earn a smile. --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers
Pros: attentive staff, talkable music volume
Cons: other patrons
