I had an old gold coin I wanted to sell, and I figured that by taking it to a place like the Gaithersburg Coin Exchange, at least it had a chance of ending up in an appreciative numismatists collection rather than a gold refinery. I was buzzed in and met a fellow on the opposite side of a thick, bank-style security window. He looked at the coin and made me an offer on the spot. It was well within the range I was hoping to get for it, so I accepted and walked out with the cash. Quick and painless.
