After reading an article about the newly remodeled EBC, I was really looking forward to giving it a second shot. I work in Pioneer Sq and though there are several places to eat, after a while it's nice to try something new. Cosmetically the place looks much better, cleaner & brighter. However after getting lunch ""to-go"" from there I have to say how disappointed I was. I ordered the 1/2 sandwich & specialty salad combo. The half sandwich was grilled cheese and the salad, spinach. Now I understand that the portions are going to be half, but for $8.75 I was expecting a little more than a two-bite snack of each. According to the menu, the sandwich was supposed to have five ingrediants, many I never saw, the cheddar, fontina & tomato jam were totally MIA. Also the slice of rosemary semolina bread they used was...shall we say...petite. The spinach salad was served in a small soup cup and was about half full. After I recieved my skimpy lunch I tried to wait to speak to someone, but after waiting a couple of minutes with no acknowledgement of my presence I simply left. Maybe I will work up the nerve to try one of their breakfast items someday, but for now, I'm feeling a little burned, like the chocolate chop cookie that I got and still ""hungry"". Pros: Convenient location, nice atmosphere. Cons: Super skimpy portions, food and service lacking.
