Review content:
on July 8th 2011 I took my car, a 1985 Toyota Corolla, to Shattucks Automotive. The mechanic was on vacation, which was fine, so I waited a few weeks to bring the car back on August 5th. Mike offered a diagnostic and found that the car needed a rebuild, which I knew. He called back with a estimate of $3,100. I was ok with this total, which covered the rebuild. I also understood that this was a estimate. Mike questioned my credibility saying, ""I don't trust you"". So he asked me for money down. He asked for $1,500 down on the job, which I brought in on the support of my family as I am a struggling student. On August 12, 2011 I brought the down payment of $1,500. Mike seemed angry when we asked him for a itemized list with the total cost and the $1,500 deducted off with the remaining balance on a receipt. He spoke rudely and began to threaten us with charges for his lunch and started to refuse service then. His daughter stepped in and handled the situation better then he did. She wrote the totals with the amount deducted off. I signed and gave the $1,500. When I got home he called me and refused service. This is no way to treat a customer no matter who they are or what they drive. When some one puts money down the car is worth some thing to them despite what someone like Mike might think. Now I have no car no service and no $1,500 laid down. I will have to go back to Shattucks and pick up my car and money as I am back where I started in July. Mike should tell his customers right up front when he does not want to do a job in stead of leading them thru the estimates, down payments and the hope of a fixed car.
CONTINUED: I went back today 8/15/2011 to Shattucks to pick up my car and money down. Mike apologized to me and my family for his attitude. It was big of him to say that he was wrong. Tho, I must say that I am still disappointed with how things turned out.
