Review content:
Having been a loyal Public Salon customer, I was a bit surprised to learn that it had closed and moved all its stylists to sister salon Woodley and Bunny. I usually see Ashlee or Alder and their cuts at Public were great for my hair type (short, thick, male). But seeing that they were unavailable and I would be leaving to travel abroad this week, I decided to haphazardly try out one of the original Woodley stylists, Caroline. I explained, as I did to all the other hairstylists I've seen in my lifetime, what I wanted. I must've been speaking in piglatin because more than twice she expressed confusion at my simple request. After snipping away briefly on the sides and real briefly on the top, she told me she was finished. Was she joking? My hair was hardly short and still dry and unwashed. Her harsh combing didn't help. I explained that I wanted shorter; I felt a little bad because I could sense her frustration, but wasn't I paying for this service? She ultimately decided that she did not know what I wanted (a simple shortening of my hair) and did not charge me and offered to make an appt with any other stylist. That was quite nice of her, but I still felt she was being a little condescending, as if it were my fault she could not get this simple haircut right. I had to do damage control at home and fix it myself- it is a little better. I usually would not care to write a review, but this seriously ruined my week and possibly my European vacation starting the following week. I wanted to look cute for it, but I guess I've learned my lesson: make appts with your preferred stylist ahead of time.
Pros: Very nice receptionist, relaxing atmosphere, free beer/wine
Cons: with the exception of one visit, nothing much
