I had no problem with Dr. Penland as my primary care doc for years. However, when I was traveling in California for business (on a Saturday) I woke up with blood in my urine and had terrible pain. I called his answering service, who contacted him. HE YELLED AT ME FOR CALLING ON HIS TIME OFF! I reminded him I had blood in my urine but it didn't matter, despite my history of bladder infections (which he always treated with amoxycillan in the past). OMG, I had a tradeshow to work that morning, was staying in a hotel, and didn't know the area. I had been seeing Penland for years and this is how I was treated! Nonetheless, I promptly found a different doctor when I got back to Denver. What a jerk!
