When we choose The Breakers at Edgewater Beach for my mother, we had looked at 9 different places. The Breakers outshone them all. Two years later she still loves the place and has made a lot of friends. I don't have to worry because I know she is safe, having fun, and enjoying her own life. My family and I love to go to dinner there because the food is so good. But what really makes the difference is the staff. They are outstanding -- very professional but warm and kind. You can get discounted parking so visiting is easy. My mother no longer drives but she takes their van for errands and shopping. She has even hired The Breakers' limo to take her places. Her beautiful apartment has a fantastic view of the lake. When comparing other retirement homes, we found that you get so much more for your money. Other places we looked at charged a lot more, and don't even have all of the ammenities like a swimming pool and doctor's and dentist's offices right in the building.
Pros: great dining, nice views, many activities, shuttle service, friendly residents and staff
Cons: some apartment styles had limited availability
