went to hop lee yesterday with two other families and the guy who tried to seat us tried to put 12 people at a table for 8...we decided to split up and sit at 2 tables - not near each other - and deal with it...we get our menus and some tea - which had a lot of things besides tea leaves floating in it - and decide to have wonton soup, cold sesame noodles, roast pork w/broccoli & peking duck....i gave the server the order and he tells me that they're out of cold sesame noodles....hold the phone! it's spaghetti with tahini sauce...how can they be out??? ok, we're going to deal with it and we decide to change that to steamed dumplings....the waiter comes back and tells us they're out of wonton soup!!! are you kidding me? is this a chinese restaurant??? out of wonton soup??? that's like mcdonald's running out of french fries. all twelve of us leave and go across the street to hop kee and enjoy a magnificant meal of cold sesame noodles, wonton soup (plus wonton/egg drop), spare ribs, roast pork, chinese beef with broccoli, wo shu op duck, shrimp with lobster sauce and much more...too bad hop lee - you missed out on a great check for twelve hungry people Pros: none - never got to eat Cons: poor seating, silverware was very dirty, ran out of wonton soup and cold sesame noodles
