Review content:
Plainfields was always a special place for us and our family members visiting from out of town. The last couple of times we called to make a reservation we were unable to get anyone on the line. Finally we decided to just show up and order food to take home. The meal was still delightful but not as wonderful as usual (tough and dirty-tasting scallops) and then we heard the rumor that they are under new ownership. Everyone working there had always been so helpful and knowledgeable and this does not seem the case anymore. We also heard that the new owner had promised to keep all of the old staff (that we loved) and apparently let everyone go only one month later. I'm hoping this is not true because we hate to lose our favorite restaurant in Portland. Was it possibly just one bad night? Can anyone shed some light? Pros: rich, exotic flavors Cons: a bit expensive to possibly be disappointed
