Paseo has something very special. Yes - you will have to wait in line, and yes - you'll have to bring cash, and yes - if you try to call ahead during their lunch rush you are likely to be put on hold or ignored. The problems some reviewers have with this place (itsthemirrors) are the product of a coddled comsumerist culture that is refreshingly absent from a place like Paseo. Paseo doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is, and it is an absolutely AMAZING sandwich shop. The Midnight Cuban Press sandwich is crave-worthy. I lived around the corner from a Cuban grocery and cafe in Chicago (La Unica) and their Sandwiches Cubanos were excellent, and certainly more authentic than Paseo, but put the two in front of me and I will go for the Paseo sandwich every time. A creative and flavorful interpretation of a classic with quality ingredients. They put a lot of care into crafting their food, and as far as I'm concerned they can operate however they choose. And for the record, I've never been treated poorly here - the service is secondary for sure, but that owes itself to the fact that there isn't a whole lot of time for chit-chat and unnecessary formalities when you've got a line out the door all day long. People like itsthemirrors who can't appreciate a good thing should just stay away - I'd venture to guess he's just the sort of customer they don't care to cater to anyway. Pros: Excellent food, period Cons: so good everyone wants one - so be ready to wait in line
