My cream of portabello soup starter was ok, but mostly forgettable; by-the-numbers cream soup, not distinctive or interesting. The bread that was brought at the beginning was rather spongy and quite bland; lacks the crusty exterior and tangy chewy interior of a good artisanal Italian loaf. Even Whole Foods' breads are superior, as are my own. But the worst part was to come; my Penne al Pollo was drowned in an unsettling artificial-neon-orange tomato-cream sauce that at first made me forget what I ordered. This dish was advertised as having spinach and sundried tomatoes. I am not exaggerating when I say that there were three slivers of sundried tomato and approximately half a dozen spinach leaves. Horribly bland out-of-a-can flavor. My companion's Bolognese was similarly characterless and bland. Extremely disappointing food. Nice atmosphere and staff, but with food this poor, what's the point?
