Based on my latest experience, I am horribly disappointed in their complete lack of customer service and would not recommend them to anyone.
They are the designated installer for Lowe's and, in the past 3 years, we have used them twice for carpet install and twice for carpet edge tuck-under. The first install was replacing old yucky carpet. The second install was about 1yr later to replace our new carpet that was damaged due to water heater bursting and flooding house! After the second install, we had some tile work done so had them come back to do tuck-under; my husband recalls the charge for that being $65 or so - I remember it being similar, but definitely no more than $80.
We just had a built-in entertainment cabinet installed along one wall of our living room and needed a new tuck-under to the cabinet. Because we had great experience with Davis & Sons in the past - and we like to support local business - we called them to see what tuck-under for 11 feet of carpet along one edge would cost. On Wednesday, my husband spoke to Allie, who said she'd have to get back to him on price but they could definitely come out first thing Saturday morning. Never got a call back. They showed up Saturday morning and were there 20-minutes total, including time for cleanup. The charge: $155!!! I tried calling the office but of course they're not open Saturdays AND their voicemail was full. So we went ahead and wrote the check but planned to follow up Monday.
I called Monday first thing (8AM) and left a message asking Allie if there had been some sort of mistake in price and to please call me back. Still hadn't heard back by 10 AM so I called back and Allie answered. She said she didn't get my message. When I asked her why there was such a big price difference for the tuck under compared to before, she said she didn't set prices; she would have to call Denny then call me back. When she called me back she said Denny said that $155 was their minimum just to show up. When I asked her if that was true WHY DIDN'T SHE KNOW THAT WHEN MY HUSBAND CALLED HER TO ASK WHAT THEY WOULD CHARGE TO TUCK UNDER 11 FEET OF CARPET...she said she had left a message for Denny but he never called her back. End of story. No care or concern that we were a repeat customer, no apology for not calling us back with a price PRIOR to Saturday as we had requested, nor explanation why the price more than doubled since last time.
So like I said, horrible, LAZY customer service, no follow-through. They don't give a sh__ that we were trying to be loyal to them and support a local business that we had used in the past. They saw an opportunity to gouge us and are unapologetic about it. I WILL AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS IN THE FUTURE.
