Review content:
This was our family's first visit to Randol's and it was a special birthday. We brought along a cake for the festive occasion. Our waitress was kind enough to accomodate our cake into the fridge while we dined. The band was very entertaining and played traditional louisiana music with couples two stepping to the rhythm. The service was okay, but service morale seemed sombre and uninspired. Our party had several entrees and I would recommend the bacon jack chicken entree over others. The chicken breast was generously cut, and was very flavorful and moist. The vegetables consisting of a few wilted beans, a piece of carrot and yellow zucchini for couleur were drowning in butter and overcooked. None of the entrees were especially arranged aesthetically, or demonstrated special cooking technique as the showcase of gold medals and trophies would warrant. Side dishes were similarly bland and tired tasting. Be prepared though: prices were leaning towards finer dining but the experience and food were more on the rustic and casual style. Maybe a weekend would warrant a better visit, perhaps with a few appetizers, a bucket of beers, and a spin on the danse floor.
Pros: Live band and dance floor are great for two stepping the night away. Early bird entrees only $10!
Cons: Food does not live up to its hey-day award-winning past. Ladies' restroom stall is so small your knees touch the door. No wonder it doesn't need a lock!
