Review content:
Luckily for me, I live right up the road, but if I didn't I would gladly hop in my car and make the drive over to Chile Y Limon - Bell Gardens latest and greatest Fruteria - Fresh Fruits, Shakes, Juices and More - all with an Old-World Mexican charm. There are tables so you can sit down, relax and enjoy some great conversations with the owners Joaquin and Rocio, as well as talking to a real interesting and eclectic mix of local patrons. They have this great Yogurt Fruit Shake made with real homemade yogurt that is OUT OF THIS WORLD - it's akin to a mango lassi served up at Indian Restaurants, but of course you can get it with any fruits.. They have all sorts of fruit plates (bionicos) and shakes/juices that I had never heard of before. The owner Joaquin comes from a fruit background and to this day still has his own fruit cart which can be found on the nearby streets of Bell Gardens. Chile Y Limon is located on Eastern Ave (exit either Florance or Firestone, off of the 710 Freeway) right up the road from the Bicycle Casino. This is the kind of place that you will definitely fall in love with - and the fruit is always top notch. Joaquin and Rocio won't serve anything unless its perfectly ripe and in good condition. Be prepared to make this one of your daily or weekly routines - and if you see a big armenian looking guy swalllowing down what looks like a thick orange shake, that is me enoying my daily mango yogurt shake.... it coats my stomach, fills me up and gives me energy -- they should be bottling this shake... who knows... maybe someday they will... for now, get on over to Chile Y Limon - the visit to the shop is half the fun! Pros: the people, freshness of produce, creative shakes and drinks Cons: there's only one location
