Review content:
We dined at Chaya for the first time recently and found the atmosphere great, the food delicious, but the service was lacking. There wasn't much personality coming from the bartender, the hostess had us wait about 30 minutes after our reservation time to get our table, and then we ended up with a waiter with an attitude. He was never very warm and gratious to begin with but when I commented on my entree, he showed no interest in making me happy. I ordered the halibut with scallops and sake broth on rice. There were no scallops (he told me they were in the broth), the halibut was surrounded by shrimp (not listed on the menu) and sprinkled with peas (also not on the menu). He made no effort to suggest an alternative, just took away the plate when I told him I didn't want it and brought back a menu and left again. We might come back but there are plenty of fantastic restaurants in L.A. with fantastic service.
Pros: Food, Atmosphere
Cons: Service
