Review content:
Went there earlier this year for tires to be installed. I purchased the tires used from a man who lived locally and he AND the garage members stated that the tires were in great shape, no dry rot, etc. Just recently, 12k miles later, I've had 3 out of 4 tires fail on me. 2 of the 3 times almost resulted in fatal injuries on the highway going between 60-80mph. Police officer who responded to the more recent incident (9/2) stated that the tire was horribly dry rotted which resulted in the tread peeling right off the tire. Aside from barely missing trees off the highway, bumper damage did occur from the tire debris. In June 2010, I brought an itemized list of repair work that I needed done and dropped it off with the vehicle. Work requested was supposed to be around $350-400 TOPS. My bill was just a hair over $1k! When I asked about the repairs, they confirmed that they received my list with the vehicle and when asked if they had to notify the CUSTOMER of any unauthorized repairs BEFORE they're done, they stated that their company did NOT have this policy in effect. Feeling as if I had no other choice in the matter, I checked the local PA laws about the auto repair field and found out that the notification law is REQUIRED by ALL repair shops in PA! Since I already asked them about it and they said there was no such law in effect at their shop, I felt there was no other option but to contact BBB, Attorney General's office and send Mar-Chet's a letter as well. Within days I received a letter back from them, an updated invoice and a partial refund for almost 1/2 of the repair bill. Never once did they apologize or admit to being in the wrong in the situation yet in their letter to AG they tried to make it out where I was a ""problem"" customer. ALL I wanted was for the repairs to be completed that I had itemized for them. Nothing else was discussed with me, they just did as they pleased. I will NEVER EVER EVER be going back to this garage as I've never been treated this way in my life. They work with the school buses so it's not like they were hard up for $ but it's BAFFLING that they had no common sense to discuss additional repairs with me that were NOT requested. F-
