This is the barbecue I'd been looking for! (read my review of Lexington 1 bbq for the full ""preamble"") After a disappointing experience at Lexington 1 I was eager for good Lexington barbecue and we found it here - the portions are generous, the pork perfectly cooked if slightly underseasoned (though light seasoning to the pork seems to be a hallmark of this bbq style...I suppose to highlight the profile of the sauce - called ""dip"" in this part of the state. If you want highly seasoned pork bbq in NC the que in the eastern part of the state may be your cup of tea). Friendly, attentive service also marks the experience at this Lexington, NC institution. The ""extras"" here are good - well seasoned slaw with just the right balance of sweet and tart, great sweet tea (with the type of crushed ice I remember as a kid...a definite plus) the hushpuppies are a little too dense for my liking, but the flavor is typical and nice. If it's any indication, I've been back three times. The barbecue here comes highly recommended by the locals and as an outsider I highly recommend it as well. Pros: Perfectly cooked pork Cons: Lackluster hushpuppies
