Businiess name:  Trader Joe's
Review by:  Barry G.
Review content:
For several years, I've been a tremendous fan of this non-traditional food mart (I don't want to call it a grocery store since that's a little too demeaning for the place). I used to go all the time in Chicago, and knew of people who would make a point of shopping at Trader Joe's when they were in from out of town. Fortunately, the co. is expanding and has several stores in SE Michigan. I frequent the one in Royal Oak on Woordward at least once a week, and am consistently impressed with the outstanding quality of the food, great group of employees (rumor has it they have to apply by decorating a Trader Joe's grocery bag...), and wide selection. It's kind of a cross between Whole Foods, and a more traditional grocery store, with prices you can't beat anywhere. The secret is great buyers and non-name-brand items. If you buy anything there you end up not liking, they'll take it right back, no questions. And, they're always open to ripping something open right there so you can taste it. Very cool business model - well worth the trip and the experience.
