I can't fully articulate how bothered I am with my experience at this place. Firstly, I kind of knew to some extent what to expect from this place.... it's basically shady with a capital S and it's run by an even shadier man who goes by the name Junior. This place has been a seedy after-hours hang out for many years. The kids from bootleggers come here after the club closes to continue to party before they go home. I did end up going against my better judgment because I had heard that they really clean up for their events.. LOL apparently that was the case 10 years ago when Junior cared but not today folks. If I hadn't had a friend of the family there to help set up that day it wouldn't have gotten cleaned at all.. plus the decorations are all dusty and gross.. which thankfully I knew ahead of time because I had that same friend make all the centerpieces and decorations *she is very talented at this*. So with her there to treat everyone like children and show them what to do.. the place ended up looking amazing. Unfortunately the things they did on their own without her looking over their shoulders were shi**ed up. One example is that the white table clothes were just turned to the opposite side.. apparently because the front side had stains on it and they were too lazy to wash them. Also the food was cold and there wasn't enough cooked to satisfy everyone.. this was a buffet btw. Also my friend made a candy bar for the event and bags and bags of candy were taken to the back without anyone's knowledge so Junior could get his fill I guess. He did the same with the cake because my husband and I received none and neither did our immediate families. A few relatives got pieces but from asking all guests those were the only ones. Somebody did spot plates of cake in the back kitchen but just assumed they were going to be handed out. I guess Junior really liked my cake!! When I met with Junior numerous times before the wedding I would ask him all sorts of questions about the timing of the whole reception and each time he would cut me off and say.. don't worry about.. I'm not going to kick you out.. you'll have all the time you want. I assumed he said this because his club doesn't even open till 2am and my wedding started at 3pm.. because of that I actually trusted what he was saying. So I started my ceremony at 3:30pm after everybody finally arrived.. but by 6:45pm Junior was saying last call and clearing off the tables and turning on the lights and kicking us out. Apparently he was tired.. awww poor Junior.. Folks he keeps a couch and blanket in the back room for his many naps so forgive me if I don't care.. obviously he cared more about his club members partying the night before than about me and my wedding.. which was paid for in all cash.. as per his request!!! SHADY! He got a bit surly with me when I went up to him and asked why he was ending things early when he said we could take all the time we wanted. Another thing I was told is that he told my mother and her handicapped boyfriend that I hadn't told him there would be handicapped folks there or else he would have put a ramp out in the back.. That was the very first thing I told him b/c it was my #1 requisite when picking a venue being that my mothers bf is in a wheelchair and that there are other elderly family members I didn't want walking down the large staircase leading to his basement club/lair. Avoid this place like the plague it is. And never trust Junior!!!!
