Review content:
1st time, with 3 friends, it was a pleasant experience, despite the 5-7 young hostesses that 'check' you when you walk in and then they ignore like we were no't standing there. After standing there for a few seconds, we asked for a table and a hostess rolls her eyes to ask if we had a reservation. For Red Rocks??? It was after 9 and the place was not even that busy. It was a girls night out and we enjoyed our night despite the lack of service. The 2nd time, which was tonight, wasn't any better and managed to have a worst experience. It was a couple date. We walked in, dressed decent for a date and there was once again 5-8 hostesses standing around the front station, with the same pleasantries, once over 'check' and ignore routine. I was on a date so I ignored it but my date did make a comment about the attitude from the airheads. Did they really have a purpose? How many hostesses does it take to seat a 75-120 capacity restaurant? Beats me. What made it even worst? We asked for a table for 2. Without acknowledgment from anyone, a young girl from no where asks us to follow her. We were escorted to the front room, away from the bar and away from the main dining room. There were 4 or 5 booths. I immediately notice there were 2 other black couple, a group of young black guys and a mixed couple seated in the area. I did not think anything of it until I went to the bathroom. ALL of the minorities were seated exclusively in that area. OK, I am not African American nor was my date. But we were the only other minorities in the restaurant, other than the Asian pastry area manager. WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT??? Bottom line, I have heard stories but have NEVER experienced this before. It has happened to me and I am ashamed and disgusted that it has happened in an area where I live, love and take pride in. It does not represent the area but it has opened my eyes to the ignorance of Birkdale as a whole. The p retention has always existed nut mildly. We are good people in this area. The out right racism and SEGREGATION, is INCOMPREHENSIBLE! I will NEVER recommend Red Rock to anyone or enter the place again. EVER. (I do want to say, the waiter was great and when I asked him about 'minority row' he acknowledged it existed and apologized. The service was good, the food was decent BUT discrimination, in any form, is vile.) Our tab was $120+25% tip. I feel that I can make this judgement without prejudice. How freaking ironic. Red Rock. SUCKS! Pros: Decent over priced food Cons: Attitude the minute you walk in and it keeps coming
